Sinclair spectrum serial numbers

Sinclair Collection. ZX Quantum Leap. Spectrum Cambridge Z In Sinclair introduced the Spectrum, a computer with colour and both upper and lower case letters. Because of the different ways in which the ZX81 and the Spectrum use memory, some programs which ran on a ZX81 with a 16K memory pack were too big for a 16K Spectrum. If there were only a very small number of bidders, then that may have been a somewhat suspicious sale. I thought that his serial number would have been part of some important batch or something.

Just wondered was there somewhere where the valuable serial numbers were categorised and why they are valuable. Later machines in really good condition with like new boxes etc also normally fetch good prices. But no, other than that, serial numbers are just numbers. But some collectors make a big deal about having a "low" serial number As might be expected, these changes greatly altered the appearance of the board; however, they did not significant change its operation at the software level.

The final version of the Spectrum 48K, the Issue 6 , differs only in fairly minor ways from its immediate predecessor: on some boards, the main ULA is provided by Saga rather than Ferranti and certain components principally capacitors and resistors differ.

If the keys are dark grey, look into the edge connector slot to see whether an aluminium heatsink is visible -especially at the power socket end. If you don't see the heatsink it's an issue 2 board which has the heatsink near the forward corner of the board, under the keyboard.

If the heatsink is visible it's an issue 3 or 3B board - there is very little difference between them. I also have two machines rubber keyed where the keyboard faceplate is attached with clips folded inside the machine, instead of glue. Who did use these, or were they standard with late rubber keyed? Then I have one machine where at bottom of the computer, where usually it says "made in uk", this has only black rectangle in place, below all the other texts.

Anywhere id does not say it was made by samsung or any other. Quite certainly it is not made in UK, as the text has been removed, but where is it made?
